Get IMprovable Performance

Air compressors are engineered in two classes: homeowner-grade machines like you’ll find in hardware and agricultural supply stores; and industrial grade machines that cost thousands of dollars more. If you only want to blow up the kids’ bike tires, remove a few lug nuts, or do a little sanding on that classic car you’ve been restoring, a homeowner-grade machine will suffice.

But if you’re trying to run a business, you need a professional-grade compressor. Industrial compressors are built to run long and hard day in and day out, and as with anything, the old adage holds true: “You get what you pay for.”

There are two classes of industrial-grade compressors. High-speed machines run on multiple ball- or roller-type bearings that wear out over time. On the other hand, low-speed machines run on a thin film of oil on white metal bushings that don’t wear out and improve over time.

It's All About The Technology

Mattei has pioneered industrial compressor manufacturing for more than 100 years. Our rotary vane technology falls into a class all of its own. Mattei’s rotary vane air compressors are simply different and fly in the face of conventional designs. If you want a compressor that can last long enough to pass on to the next generation and gets better with time, get a Mattei.

Improvable Performance Over Time

Below, you will find two groups of Mattei data sheets.  “Out the Door” data sheets reflect brand new machines that haven’t been seasoned. “After 500 Hours" data sheets demonstrate what third-party testing company Intertek has confirmed with our slowest-running compressor: Mattei’s proprietary rotary vane technology only gets better with time. After an initial seasoning period, Mattei machines produce more air, consume less power, and become more energy-efficient.

Remember those “bushings” we mentioned? They are the key to the exceptionally long life of a Mattei rotary vane compressor. Where compressors with ball- or roller-type bearings can confirm the L10 life expectancy of their bearings that were calculated into their life cycle, Mattei compressors are engineered for 100,000 hours of operation. Yet, as they run on bushings we know they can last much longer than that. With a Mattei, the life cycle begins anew with every oil change.
